Graphic Design & Illustration

By profession, I am a Graphic Designer. By self-definition I am an artist, seamstress, but mostly sketch-bookist. I filled “Sketchbook 1” in 2017 and I had no idea just how much that would affect my life. At the end of my time here at Madison College, I am starting my 28th. In those sketchbooks I learned not only about my passion for illustration and fashion- but my passion for graphic design.

Best Buy Instagram Series

This series displays a group of three technical drawings of specialty kitchen appliances found at Best Buy: A Breville Espresso Machine, the classic Kitchenaid Stand Mixer, and a Cuisinart Waffle Maker. This series fits with their brand identity, color scheme, and works great in the Instagram 1080x1080 pixel dimensions. The technical drawings were made by me.

Costume College Event Poster

Costume College is an annual costuming arts conference hosted by the Costumer’s Guild West Inc. They offer lectures, workshops, and demonstrations on all things costuming: from general sewing to historical construction methods. During the event, guests and presenters will come wearing clothes that they made themselves from any time period that they like and take a walk down the red carpet during one night of the weekend-long event. That red carpet creates a lovely collage of time periods and cultures with the use of this 21st century event.

The Tell-Tale Teabag Cafe Design

The Tell-Tale Teabag is a literature based cafe design. With recipes from classic stories and teas based on their authors, this cafe is all about the little details. The general style is a muted color palette and Victorian-style illustrations. For this project, I designed a food menu, a tea menu, a website, and merchandise (including t-shirts, a sticker book, coasters, and notebooks).

Sewing Pattern Design

A personal project turned into a portfolio piece: my first sewing pattern. Originally for Valentines day, I went for a longer length and full skirt that’s illustrated on both the cover of this pattern and in the instructions themselves. The instructions are practical and easy to read, and the illustrations supplement them. I did this so the instructions would be easy to follow for a beginner. I made this pattern a part of my own personal label and perhaps the beginning of a future pattern line.
