Sydney Mankowski

Graphic Design & Illustration

Hello, hello! I’m Sydney, a Graphic Designer and Illustrator based here in Madison, WI. I’m an avid enjoyer of all forms of story-telling but my favorite forms are visual and written. It’s a love I discovered first in creative writing, which led me to the University of Wisconsin - Madison to pursue and acquire a Bachelor’s of Arts Creative Writing degree. I found it again in graphic design which led me here to Madison College. In an effort to grow my arsenal of story-telling tools, I’ve worked to master a number of art mediums including digital art, acrylic painting, colored pencils, charcoal and my newest opponent: gouache paints. I’m eager to put these skills to use in an environment where I can express my creativity and tell new and enthralling stories through the work I present every day.

Above and Beyond

A company that goes above and beyond to ensure the satisfaction of their customers; Accu-Clime Mechanical Services, LLC deserved a modern, clean logo to match those ideals. Sticking to the aesthetic established in the company’s founding, I designed a more modern logo with versatile applications to give the company a glow-up after twelve years of service.

A Boost in Any Weather

“A Boost in Any Weather” is an ad campaign intent on presenting three separate weather scenarios when having A&W Root Beer. Despite the doom and gloom, the brand has that extra kick to make any weather, sunny, and therefore a quality experience for the consumer. I enjoyed the compositing portion of this project - playing around with shading, color amplifying and image compositing was the best part of this project.

Immerse Yourself in History Brochure

The Wisconsin Maritime Museum is home to a litany of relics and naval history. The greatest amongst its exhibits is the U.S.S. Cobia. For this project, I consulted the Naval History and Heritage Command website to find relics that would have been used during World War II - the same era the Cobia was put into service. I enjoyed the photo treatments as well as composing the brochure; my pride and joy are pages six and seven which are shown here.

Immerse Yourself in History Poster

To accompany my brochure, I sought to explore a design that I’ve always wanted to try but never quite found the right project for it. The text crossover was that piece of this asset and I enjoyed playing with it the most; it has a stark contrast in both color and sizing that I think really sets it apart from the background.
