Desia Xiong

Desia Xiong (she/her) is a first-generation Hmong American artist located in Madison, WI. An enthusiastic and passionate individual, Desia strives to uplift the local community through storytelling. She is a multi-talented Visual Communications graduate who can do all things video, audio, graphic design, motion design, and even props and costuming! Most importantly, Desia is a PRE-PRODUCTION QUEEN! Her ability to anticipate problems and resolve them before it occurs is impressive! Desia's artistic style is driven by fun typography, compositions of interesting visual weights and pairing of bold colors. Her biggest muse is her 13 year old chihuahua, Nini Beans. President and founder of Okami Taiko, Desia brings dedication, initiative, passion and leadership to all aspects of her work. If you're looking to build a film or production crew, or need a hand on a project, you're going to want her on your team.

Hu Plig

A short narrative film about the Hmong's shamanistic belief of spiritual health. SYNOPSIS: A young man's soul is scared away from his body and wakes up in the spirit realm. He encounters a "Poj Ntzoog" (female ghost), and is hunted by a figure in a red cap. Will our protagonist's spirt find his way home?

Okami Taiko Demo Reel

Okami Taiko is a performing arts group located in Madison, WI. They perform "eisa", a dynamic festival dance from the Ryukyu Islands of Okinawa, Japan. Okami taiko was founded by Desia in 2017 and has been an active performing arts group since it's humble club beginnings at Madison College. Taiko Story Time: Dragon Boat Racing

Taiko Story Time is a video series about crazy and memorable moments during Desia's decade long taiko career. The series is created in the storytelling style of Drunk History. This episode is about Desia's petrifying experience as a volunteer drummer on a professional dragon boat racing team.
